To spread happiness and joy this holiday season, We Are One! Incorporation, CA, held a Thanksgiving gifts distribution drive as part of its Holiday Fundraising Campaign. 36 food baskets and 36 gift cards were donated to the American Veterans (AMVETS) Thrift Store located in Long Beach, California.

We Are One! Inc., CA’s Holiday Food Basket Drive for Military Families

One of the goals for We Are One! Inc., CA, during the holiday season 2020 is to raise $3,000 for more than 2,000 military service families and veterans currently living in Southern California. We aim to provide holiday food baskets and gift cards to as many military service and veteran families as we can.

American Veterans (AMVETS) is a volunteer-led, non-partisan association formed by World War II veterans of the United States military. The organization is an advocate for all its members and supports causes that it deems helpful to the nation. Thanks to our generous donors and supporters, we donated 36 gift cards and 36 food baskets on November 17, 2020, to the AMVETS Thrift store located in Long Beach, California. These food baskets and gift cards will help mitigate emergency financial hardships for military veterans and their families throughout the Los Angeles area during the holiday season.

We Are One! Inc., CA, is halfway through its goal and needs your help and support to raise the remaining half to reach the $3,000 goal! With your contributions, we will be able to help even more families in the military and veteran communities during the holiday season so they are able to enjoy the festivities.

Our community keeps growing bigger every day. More and more people are coming forward to help America’s true heroes by donating to our military assistance program.  The combined efforts of our team, board members, sponsors, and donors have proven to be a stellar success!

We Are Grateful to Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority – Our Partnering Organization

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, our partnering organization. Without their support and generous donations, our Thanksgiving gifts distribution drive would not have been possible.

The holiday food baskets donated to AMVETS were contributed by the Gamma Tau Sigma Alumnae Chapter of Long Beach, the Gamma Kappa Undergraduate Chapter of California State University, Long Beach the Omicron Rho Undergraduate Chapter of California State University, Dominguez Hills.

The Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority was founded in Indianapolis, Indiana, on the campus of Butler University by seven school teachers in 1922. The Gamma Tau Sigma chapter was founded as an advisory chapter for the Gamma Kappa chapter at the California State University in Long Beach in 1964. The chapter also advises the Omicron Rho Chapter of California State University, Dominguez Hills. The purpose of the organization is to enable the youth of today through education and leadership programs. The Sorority also aims to enhance the quality of life in Long Beach through its public service initiatives. The sisterhood engages in many forms of community service throughout Southern California for the betterment of society.

One of the many core values of the Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority is “service.” The service projects initiated by the Sorority provide support to women, families, and children. We Are One! Inc., CA, has a similar purpose. We also aim to help military service members and families through our assistance programs to ensure they are empowered enough to stand on their feet.  Our combined mission is to expand our reach to communities in Southern California, like military families and women, who require our assistance.
